Public Housing Campaign

Empower DC organizes residents of public housing and their supporters to save and improve public housing in Washington, DC.  We want a moratorium on the demolition of public housing, vacant units renovated to house homeless families, and funds for repairs.

LATEST CAMPAIGN VICTORIES

  •  Barry Farm residents can stay on the property during redevelopment.
  • The 2017 fiscal budget includes $15 million in one-time funds for repairs and maintenance for DC’s distressed public housing. The funds will come from unspent rental assistance funds in the DC Housing Authority’s budget.
